Book Review #21: The Hospital: The First Mountain Man Story (Mountain Man, #0.5) by Keith C. Blackmore

The Hospital: The First Mountain Man Story (Mountain Man, #0.5)
by
Keith C. Blackmore

18+ contains explicit cursing and excessive anatomical references Where can I start on this one? First the van is described as a horse would be, self aware. That was a bit off putting to me. It is one thing to treat a vehicle like a companion, but to give it actual emotion unless it is an AI futuristic vehicle... I don't care for it. The MC muses for two pages on how he will not be like those idiots on tv in a zombie apocalypse, then he proceeds to tap his loaded shot gun against his "helmet protected" cheek thoughtfully. Another thing that nettled me was the cart he found, he takes it from the back of its resting place to the front of the storage room and it only squeals when he puts it out into the hall. Wheels were perfectly silent before then. Then there is his Achilles heel... or should I saw Achilles gonads? Seriously, the amount of time those things get punished and his overreaction to it... Then Blackmore talks about "newborn" babies that had been turned to zombies and how they crawls after the MC to devour him. All in all I had to read this as a comedy. As a satire it was actually pretty good.

All in all this was bad in the horror sense. Good in the comedy sense.
